The happy little elves enjoyed their moments of holiday glee, playing outside
with snowballs in their hands, when the school bell rang to return to their classes.
One elf replied, "This recess is always way too short."

"Sit down, children," said Miss Otupac in a gentle tone. There was a stir and
then all of those happy elves were silent, sitting down in their seats. "As you
know, Christmas is coming soon; In fact, it's only a day from now, and…."
"Yippee!" shouted Jimmy with great joy. "Sit down, Jimmy!" the teacher
wailed. I am tired of your mouth. Please go to the corner," she said as if nothing
had happened at all.
Class continued on throughout the day until the teacher said, "I shall see you
all tomorrow class. Have a good night," as a grin appeared while walking to her desk.

The elves returned home, to Santa's workshop to retire for the evening. The
elves crowded through the door to the workshop, where Santa was waiting for them.
"How was your day?" said Santa fidgeting with his beard. "You know Christmas is
coming soon, and we are going to have to prepare the toys."
"We know Santa," said Johnny, the youngest of the elves.
"At school today Miss Otupac yelled at me," cried Jimmy, " I felt horrible."
Santa paused and he began playing with his beard again. "Some people are bitter
all of the time, and can't control their feelings and tempers, but we have to
understand all of that."
"I know," said Jimmy, wiping away a tear from his eyes.
"Alright elves, It's time for bed," said Santa, getting up and walking to the
door. "Good night and sleep tight."

When the morning arrived the elves returned to school, trotting happily through
the pure white snow. "Hey, Jimmy, did you do your homework?" said Johnny.
"Sure did, Johnny!" said Jimmy, poking through his assignment folder. "Oh no!
I can't find my homework Johnny! Do you know where it went?" exclaimed Johnny.
"No," said Johnny. "I haven't since last night?"
"I can't believe it. Miss Otupac is going to have a fit! I must have left it
at home, but she'll never believe me!"
"Hello children!" a voice echoed from behind the closet door. "It's time to get
out your homework to be checked." Jimmy was now squirming in his seat. "Jimmy
where's your homework," she said.
"Well, I can't find my work," said Jimmy.
"Why I never... you make me so mad you happy little elves are so happy you don't
even do your homework. All you happy little elves, with your happy little Christmas
Songs, and your happy little pointed shoes. I can't stand all of this Christmas
mumbo jumbo. I have a report for you since Jimmy decided not to do his homework."
The teacher was now red with anger. "You have to write a one thousand page essay
about happiness, due by the end of vacation."
The day was now slowly dragging going on, until the bell rang to leave, "I hope
you have a happy Christmas," the teacher said with a sly stair, "and you had better
do your homework too. Ha ha ha!"

When they returned home Santa was waiting for them. "Why such a sad, look my
young elves?" Santa said. "We have way too much homework. It's a one thousand page
essay," said Jimmy. "I don't know how we can finish the presents on time and do the
assignment."
"Well just go ahead with your homework," said Santa. "Just remember, no one can foil
Christmas."
When the day arrived all of the children were shocked because there were no
presents under their trees. The Children were upset, and many cried. Santa had come
back to wake them all up with a great surprise.
"I have had this time machine laying around in the attic for a few years now,
and I have had no real reason to use it, but this Christmas is different. Use this
to help you show your teacher the evil in her ways, and save Christmas for us all!"
With a whoosh they were off. They had seen how sad kids would be when they
realized presents weren't coming, and then they saw the teacher in the past. She was
having no problem giving out homework, so they swept her up, showing her all of the
sad children, all of the heavy hearted parents, and herself, in the future, with no
remorse or any sense of what had happened. She had begun to understand and they
rewrote time.
"This is your new homework class," the reborn teacher had said. "To make all of
the Christmas toys for all of the girls and boys," and with a wink sent everyone home
early to have fun.
"This has been the best Christmas ever," said Johnny.
"Yes it was," said Santa Clause with a hearty laugh. "But we all know that
Christmas will always be here and it will always be great...."
